Spinal Decompression in Chesterfield
Spinal Decompression is a fantastic treatment option for helping relieve back pain or other issues. This treatment involves the use of a spinal decompression table to help relieve pressure on the spine. Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine, which helps to take pressure off of the discs and nerves which may help alleviate pain from many different issues.
This treatment is often used to help treat herniated discs, protruding discs, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and other forms of back pain. Depending on your specific case, we recommend doing a series of sessions with a combination of other forms of chiropractic treatment.
Promote natural healing of your spinal discs without surgery or pain medications.
The basics
About spinal decompression
Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression is a treatment option that helps gently stretch the spine. This helps to take pressure off of the discs and nerves in your back. During a Spinal Decompression treatment, you'll lay on a special motorized table. The top half of the table remains fixed while the bottom half of the table slowly moves and is controlled by an advanced computer system.
Dr. Noonan fits you with a harness around your pelvis and another around your trunk. You'll be positioned either face-up or face-down on the table, which is computer controlled to help gently stretch and decompress your spine. Dr. Noonan controls the table using the connected computer, customizing the treatment to your specific needs.
As your spine is stretched it takes pressure off the spinal discs, which are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine, by creating negative pressure in the disc. That negative space gives herniated and bulging discs space where they may retract. This helps take pressure off nerves and other structures in your spine and ultimately leads to less pain and discomfort. This can also help increase the movement of other nutrient-rich fluids, water, and oxygen into the discs to promote healing.
What does spinal decompression treat? Spinal Decompression can be an extremely beneficial treatment option for a variety of reasons, including:
Herniated discs — when the disc between your body and spine is hurt, it's called a herniated disc. It can be hard to move because the pain makes you want to stay still. When you have a herniated disc, it is important to rest and take care of yourself until the pain goes away.
Bulging discs — a bulging disc is a disc that has been injured and is protruding out from its normal position. This can cause pain, numbness, and tingling in the affected area.
Degenerative disc disease — a condition that affects the discs in your spine. The discs can become weak and thin over time, which can lead to pain and other problems.
Sciatica — pain in your lower back that sometimes extends down your buttocks and legs. Sometimes this can happen when a person has a herniated disc, bulging discs, or degenerative disc disease.
Spinal stenosis — a condition that happens when the spinal column becomes narrower. This can cause problems like pain, numbness, and tingling.
Does spinal decompression hurt? Spinal Decompression Therapy is generally a gentle and soothing treatment that is typically painless in most cases. Some patients with significant disc damage may experience minor discomfort during their first few treatments.
How many sessions will I need? The number of sessions you will need will depend on your individual condition. In some cases, you may only need a few sessions to see results. However, in other cases, you may need to undergo spinal decompression therapy for several weeks or months. Dr. Noonan will work with you to build a treatment plan for your specific needs.

“I am not going to lie that I was skeptical of chiropractic care. I had been to chiropractors in the past and lacked the results I wanted to see. But Dr. Emily is different. She takes her time to get to know her patients, their bodies, and their goals for treatment. I am a bedside registered nurse who spends 12+ hours on my feet at a time. Dr. Emily has helped me with the lower back pain that comes with that job. I always feel better after seeing her. Dr. Emily helps me feel my best so I can provide the best care to my patients. The great care starts with the ladies at the front desk. Tracy and Leila always have a smile on their face and are always willing to help. The whole team is fantastic, and I will continue to recommend Full Circle Health to anyone that will listen.”
